Mephisto and ScarAngel both freeze upon closing

Hello,

I apologize for not speaking German. Whenever I close eMule Mephisto or ScarAngel (latest versions), they both freeze at the point where the splashscreen says "Clearing Lists". I do not have this problem when I run regular eMula 0.49a. Anyone have any solutions?

Thank you,
Paul

first of all, welcome but wrong thread/ subforum...

about your problem, how many downloads and known clients do you got before closing emule?

I get this error the first time I run Mephisto or ScarAngel. I don't even have anything in my download list.

By the way, I'm running Windows XP x64 with an Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM.

Regards,
Paul

please try a clean install. if it still freezes, how long are you waiting until you shut down the process? and do actually make a clean install, anything else is not sufficient!

After I download the RAR file, I extract the files and run eMule. Then I get the startup wizard. After I complete the wizard, I try to close the program and eMule freezes at the point where the splashscreen says "clearing lists". I end the process from Task Manager after 2 or 3 minutes. I have done this few times and it is always the same result.

Could the problem be that I am running the 64-bit edition of Windows XP?

maybe... this is entirely new to me....

I will try this on another 64-bit machine later today and will keep you updated. Just so you know, eMule Xtreme runs fine without any problems.

Take care,
Paul

I'm running Vista x64 SP1, and i haven't any problems with none of the mods....maybe it's an XP 64 specific problem...

...but of course very strange... :think

I figured out the cause of the problem. It has nothing to do with Windows XP x64. The problem is with the UPnP feature of Mephisto/ScarAngel and my particular router, which is a D-Link DGL-4300 (firmware version 1.8 ). When I disable UPnP in Mephisto it does not freeze when I close it. (Starting and closing is actually speedier.) Also, when I connect my PC to anouther router, Mephisto does not freeze when I close it. So there seems to be some kind of UPnP problem between my router and Mephisto. I do not have such problems with eMule Xtreme or the regular eMule 0.49a.

Is it possible there might be an error in Mephisto's programming with regards to UPnP?

Thank you,
Paul

well, mephisto uses another UPnP than the official and xtreme. you might want to test with morphxt/ stullemule which use the same UPnP. i might have missed something when updating the code.

Thanks for your help. If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between all of these eMule mods? So many flavors it makes my head spin! I thought Mephisto is supposed to be the best mod? Is this true?

Thank you,
Paul

I just installed MorphXT v11.0 and it has the same problem. :sb I think I will just stick to the plain eMule 0.49a for now.

Stulle 14. July 2008 12:17

well, mods offer you certain things so it really depends on the mod. if you have no special interests it is best to stick to the official.

Thanks for your help. I would really appreciate it if you could fix the UPnP problem with the mods. The mods have a few nice features that is missing in the plain version. I'm willing to do beta testing for you if you wish.

Take care,
Paul
