Im looking forward for that patch, great work as allways Xman.

You all know that some files has alot of clients wanting that file so they are in fact blocking other more rare files even when using prio. When i reach a 20:1 ratio on those files ill remove them, which normally is when they get complete or just a few moments after that for me...

Like now, downloading an album, 100M added it for 40m ago, ive got 4parts so far, but allready UL 150M on that file.

Im not complaining about it, but that is how a run my mule.

Also i didnt see the ulspeed as a problem more just like a strange behaviour, maybe i should have used that word instead, sorry for that.

Regards.

Xman 3. April 2006 10:03

no problem ;-)
It's good to get some feedback from a person with a high uploadspeed.
Next version will have so many deep changes, I'm very interesseted on your experience with that version. I hope I can release it this week.

When I thougt about it a feature [when file downloaded and (ulratio >20:1 and complete sources >9) put file on hold until complete source is <4] would be nice maybe with a twist like if ULspeed < ½ total ULspeed then remove hold :-D

Just thinking loud.

Regards!

A question, i want to ban a client that checks for my shared files list 2-3 times a day and i really dont like it. How do i do to ban him?

seppl12 4. April 2006 23:27

You can't permanently ban a client by hand (it's not allowed). The only thing you can do is to put him in your ipfilter (for 24 hours, if he has a nonstatic ip ... don't forget to delete after that) or you show your files only friends or nobody.

1. you can't trust the info about complete sources... it can be wrong

2. goal of emule is to share your files, not to hide them. What you can do is setting this files to a very low priority.

Isengrim 5. April 2006 00:47

seppl12, well if I only knew his ip, ofcourse I dont let anyone see my files list but still continues to ask for the list, and has been doing it for quite a few weeks now. Therefore i want to ban him permanent as I see him as harassing me, so the question is rather how do I get his ip?

Xman ofcourse the goal is to share and u all know that I do my fair bit of sharing, but since some files has enourmous amount of clients wanting them they block more rare files so I remove them instead, 20:1 or more should noone complain about in ratio, but with my idea thoose files would be shared by me and not removed as they get now. But it was just thinking not serious as a feature request.

It's very long. As i had such a client ( it was a mldonkey robot) it last about a few days only. If this client is in your list of known client you can see his ip. Don't know, maybe there is an entry at the verbose log.

Have you ever tried the multiqueue feature? With that the rare files get a disproportonately high upload in comparison with your huge asked files. (But as aalerich said anywhere, the faster you spread rare files the faster it will remove from the share so that the bootom line is you get less full sources ... don't know if he has right).

Isengrim 5. April 2006 11:34

Thanks for your reply, ill have to enable known client list then for a while.

Yes I tried the multiple queue function but since my dedicated eMule computer isnt the latest stuff it didnt handle that stress well enough, maybe I can use that function when I replace the machine in the future, hopefully this year, all extras is disabled on this machine to keep the upload speed at a maximum :-D Anyway rare files I keep as long as I can in my share so most stuff has been there for years as well as my own releases. There isnt that many swedes on the ed2k-net so swedish stuff must be kept so any new one will find something an thus staying with us...

You mean to enable the verbose log because the list of known client you can always see at the transfer window - the lower window can be changed to show uploadslots, waiting queue, known client or daownloadslots.

Sry but the multiqueue option needn't more resources (not really measurably). The only differnce is to rate the clients for each file.

Xman 5. April 2006 15:23

@seppl
but you can disable the known-client-list ;-)
nevertheless, this list doesn't need much ressources.

:bang since years i see this options but never touch it

Isengrim 5. April 2006 19:16

Well, havnt seen him in my known client list yet but he has asked for my files 4 times since midnight... disturbing, thanks for all help anyway boys.

Xman 5. April 2006 19:19

isn't his IP displayed at the message "client blabla has requested your sharedfilelist" ?

Isengrim 5. April 2006 19:42

Nope, just like this
"2006-04-05 19:10:03: User 0 (141297nnnn) requested your shared files list -> denied" nnnn four more digits.
