Yellow Highlighting in "Software" Column

What a great mod!- I'm using Xtreme 4.7.1, and it's working very well for me but I have a question:

When in "Transfers" tab looking at either "Uploading" or "in queue", some of the clients in the "Software" column are highlighted in Yellow (such as "Emule 0.46c") and some are not. What is the meaning of the yellow highlighting?

I understand the yellow vs. blue icons in the first column, but I don't understand the purpose of the yellow highlighting of some clients in the last (software) column. Does anyone know what this means?

Also I never get any more "Zambor" spam messages, that's great! However I am seeing in the server log what appears to be spam in the form of repeated entries like: "New message from Fantozzi (IP:87.6.***.***)" is that a new spammer?

Thanks!

[edit by Pathfinder: made the IP address unrecognizable]

The yellow highlighting is indicating users with a low id.

I think that Xman answered to this question in the German thread. If I'm not mixing up things he wrote there that these log-entries can't be suppressed because of something in the original code of the official mule. Nevertheless these clients get banned and you won't see their messages in the message-window. If you don't want to have such entries in your log anymore you have to change your configuration in Options --> Extended --> Verbose.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply.
You are right about the low ID and the fact that the Fantozzi messages don't appear in the message window.
But I'm still not sure why the Zambor no longer appears in the log but the Fantozzi does, but its just curious, not a problem.

Xman 29. November 2005 09:21

There are different Zambors out. Some are using the modstring "zambor". When Xtreme detects such a modstring, it bans this mod immediately. The other zambors don't send any modstring and are only detected after they sent their spam-message.

At the moment the Log-Message of a received Message is beeing printed. That's because
a) the official version handles it this way
b) you can proof that the new spam-ban-feature is working well

Meanwhile I found an easy way to avoid the log-entry after a spam message. The next version won't display it anymore.

Well it's nice to see the "proof" that the spam ban feature is working well, so there's really no problem with the log messages appearing.
However on the other hand it's really not necessary most of the time so it will be a nice enhancement if you found an easy way to avoid the log entry, it will make an already great mod even better!

Thanks for the reply and the explanation of why I see one spammer in the log but not another!

Hello,

What a great mod!!! I really enjoy using it!!!!

I have only 1 question:
Will WebCache be added to future versions?

Pathfinder 26. December 2005 06:09

AW: english support

Welcome, kipi25!

The Xtreme MOD won't be supporting WebCache. Xman, it's creator, doesn't belief in that feature. If you ask me, he's right.

In the FAQ at his site he states: the used proxy servers are not meant for p2p traffic. WebCache is misusing them which can lead to the isp's closing them down. This would hurt eMule's reputation.

Despite that, the Xtreme MOD's concept is to be easy in it's use. Since WebCache is a feature that works well only for some people, depending on their isp, it's integration would be contradictory.

Hi, due to " added sourcecache = finding more sources with less overhead" in version 4.8, i think it would be nice to have feature like autodrop FULLQ/NNS every x minutes.

I think that will be very usefull because now there are much less sources for each file, so they shoul have "higher quality"...

Btw great mod ;)

I'm using v0.46c Xtreme 4.8 version. Thanks to Xman for this great Mod.

I have some problem and feature suggestions:

1. the eMule could not remember my previous set up, for example, the server preference/priority list, the title orders for server page, transfer page and shared files page... how can I solve this problem?

2. Is it possible to bring back 'load all source', 'save all source', 'ask server for more sources'...features back?

3. It would be nice to be able to control the speed while the eMule is minimize so that we don't have to go to 'options' menu to control the speed .

Thanks again

Happy New Year

Have you done a clean install? I think this could solve the probleme (after that you can copy the preferences.dat, cryptkey.dat, client.met and server.met from your old config folder to you new one.

I think it's not allowed by the official devs.

No, I could not control speed in minimule. Is it the same reason for not doing clean installation? Thanks for your answer.

Xman 2. January 2006 00:40

@mononoke
if you have problems with saving your settings a clean install can help. During the last (official) versions some formats of saved data has been changed.

You can't change the speed limit via trayicon... that has a simple reason:
there are some values which depends from the uploadlimit (e.g. slotspeed, max global sources). You should always have a look at this values when changing the uploadlimit. Therefore you have to go to preferences, to change it. It's just one click more.

Lock Up

hello all,
thanks for the great mod but I have some stability and lock up problems. I have no idea why is it happening but , it locks up my computer for 5-10 seconds and turns to normal. At the moment, emule cuts all downloads with sources and DL speed reduces to 0 kb/s, then it jumps to 30 kb/s (my bandwidth allows 24 kb/s max). Do you have any idea about this problem.
I got a screenshot from netlimiter , to explain the situation.

http://members.lycos.co.uk/savaturk/graph.jpg
is it about overhead bandwith ??
my system is,
amd athlon XP 2500+ O.C to 3200+
512 kingston ddr 400 mhz
Asus A7N8X-X Board
Windows Xp Pro Sp2

Thanks for the answers..

Xman 3. January 2006 21:19

this can only have two reasons:
1) a problem with your router/firewall
or
2) your harddrive is locked at this moment. Not all disc-access in emule is done multithreaded, which means: if emule can't write/read to your harddrive the whole application waits. Have a look at your HDD LED when emule locks up again.

requiem 4. January 2006 00:36

Thanks for quick answer,
1) I'm not using a 3rd party fw or windows fw. But I'm using portforwarded ports to 1100 TCP and 1000 UDP. I have an on board realtek ethernet card,maybe I have to update drivers and change the ports to the default ones.

2) My HDD isn't working when emule locks up. it seems idle, no sound or nothing indicates that it writes/reads. my HDD is IDE by the way.

If I can solve it I'll post it here. With this new information if you have new advices please share them with me .
Thanks

Buggy Biggy 7. January 2006 17:32

Great mod, but I have some issues with it that I hope can be adressed. I'm using eMule v0.46c Xtreme 4.7.1.

1. I copy my old eMule v0.30e's known.met file to Xtreme's config dir and it doesn't work, it just overwrites it from scratch. I don't want to lose my downloaded history, it's over 2 MB in size. If it's a problem of different formats (eMule 0.30e didn't support 'Cancelled' state), is there a program I can use that can convert it?

2. When I run eMule Xtreme, it just overwrites the log file (logs\emule.log) instead of appending or renaming it with the date (emule_yyyymmddhhmmss.log).

3. Sometimes the process crashes, and it asks if I want to create a dump file (eMule 0.46c Xtreme 4.7.1.dmp), but even if I click Yes, it's always 0 bytes.

4. Log files and other files like download.txt have a 0x00 byte between each character. Why?? It makes the logs impossible to read with Notepad, and they double the filesize. Also, newlines use only a line feed, without a carriage return which is what Windows uses (CRLF).

Thanks a lot for any help.

seppl12 7. January 2006 18:14

1. <- The Format of the known.met file have changed between the old version 0.30 and 0.46c. I know no tool to transform the old known.met in a new one and i think there isn't such a tool.

2. <- I have tested. If i deaktivate/aktivate the log file then it will appending the new lines in the "eMule_Verbose.log" file.

3. <- Can't say anything ... i haven't ever a crash with the Xtreme.

4. <- My log files and download.txt looks normal with the Notepad. Mmm, maybe an adjustment on your system?

Xman 7. January 2006 18:21

1. Yes, since some versions, the format of known.met has been changed (same in official version). As I remember, you don't loose your downloaded history, but your current shared files must be rehashed one time.

2. hmm.. for me it works correctly.

3. You should use the lates version (4.8.1)... I fixed some crash-reasons. But maybe you have any critical crash, where even no dumpfile can help me. It seems few users have some incompatibility with emule and their computer.

4. What OS are you using ? It seems you have an UNICODE-problem. That is no bug of emule, but an incompatibilty with your OS.

and

ADSL 600/160 - Win XP

Because of the limitation of connections by WinMe is the WinXP a better choice, and with higher upload you earn more credit and therefore should be a better download.

I kept using the official eMule v0.30e for too long I guess. Do you think it would work if I download the first version of eMule that implemented the new format (was it v0.40?)? Maybe then it will convert the old format to the new one.

Don't worry about that, it very rarely crashes without me doing something stupid. :oops But one crash that always happened was when I had a huge ipfilter.dat (9 MB). I couldn't even start Xtreme with that ipfilter. Now it's 3 MB and it doesn't crash.
Zitat:

4. What OS are you using ? It seems you have an UNICODE-problem. That is no bug of emule, but an incompatibilty with your OS.
I'm using Win98SE. I see what the problem is now. Is there no way to make Xtreme use standard 7-bit (or Extended 8-bit) ASCII? I'm not the only one who doesn't use an OS that supports Unicode!

Xman 13. January 2006 18:48

- you don't need any official 0.40 version (or other).. simply use your old known.met and wait until the shared files are rehashed

- downgrading to a non unicode-version would be contraproductiv... if you are using Win98 you need the uni-layer:
Microsoft Unicode-Layer für Windows 95/98/ME Systeme (MSLU) version 1.0

Xtrem enthousiast 14. January 2006 23:00

Hi Xman, and hi to the regular users of this board,

I'd like to report what seem to be a (minor) bug that keep annoying me for a couple of days, since i downloaded the lastest Xtreme 4.8.1. The mod is running on a standalone machine dedicated to P2p, together with Azureus and Kaspersky antivirus.

system specs : Xp3000+ / 1Gb RAM / Maxtor 160go / french adsl providing 3000down - 800up

The probleme is as follow : First i get the emule windows on full screen, then ask to minimize it, but it won't. Odd enough, the emule windows can "reduce one level" with no problem, but it simply won't minimize in the task bar. Note that the other non-emule windows and applications work as usual.... The problems occurs only after hours/days of intense work.

anything comparable reported in the german bug section so far ?

greetings for this great mod ! :dance

Xman 14. January 2006 23:55

I already read such a thing at the official emule forum. It's seems to be a bug at official version which hopefully will be fixed with emule 0.47.

No need to downgrade, just add an ASCII option. That would be great. I already have that Unicode layer, but I still can't read my logfiles with Notepad... Also, another downside about using a 2-byte charset is that the files take double the space.

May I request an ASCII or UTF-8 option? I think that would be a very welcome addition to most people that don't use WinNT.

Xman 17. January 2006 13:21

hmm.. for me it wokred with my old known.met ... but you can try it with the official version.

I don't want to code a ASCII-option, because windows < windowsNT isn't recommended for emule at all.

download very low since 4.8.2

hi and thanks for the great job you did with xtreme mod: i use it for several month and it's really rock!!:clap german teams are amazing on this point (and for servers too:yes: )

but.....since i upgrade to 4.8.2, my upload is still great (52 Ko/s) but, for reason i don't understand, my download is stucked at 1-2 kb/s ....(instead of the 200 KB i used to...)
all my ports are opened, and i did'nt change anything in my config....
i scanned for spyware/trojan/virus with no result...

The point is that i see it negociate connexions, but most of them are blocked to 0kB, and then the client is lost....
it's like xtreme mods were blacklisted!
and, when i see my verbose/anti leech log, i get several "xtreme failed download ban"....

i don't know what to do anymore...:cry:
please help me or advise if it's a known issue with 4.8.2 (i know 3 other people using 4.8.2, in the same case, and we're all CLUB ISP, the T-ONLINE french ISP)

Xman 3. February 2006 15:25

please check out your firewall-settings... at some firewalls you have to apply your permissions to the new emule.exe

pieroboy 3. February 2006 15:46

thanks
but as incredible as it seems, i don't use any firewall, not even the KROSOFT one....i never had any problem...untill this one!
my only firewall is hardware (modem hitachi/tecom), and i fix ports rights for emule
here's what i typically get:

http://img334.imageshack.us/img334/8...shot1jz.th.jpg

the 0KB/s ones stay in this state for, say , about a minute, and is dead (killed?)
any idea?

Xman 3. February 2006 16:44

hmmm.. suspicious... I didn't change anything in 4.8.2 which could cause this problem. Which was the last Xtreme-version where the problem didn't occur ?

And one more question: are this clients with the failed downloadsessions normal (/official) clients or any mods ? (e.g. nickname [KOR]pruna)

pieroboy 3. February 2006 18:25

thanks to wondering my problem!

the last 4.8.1 was quite rocksolid and flawless!
but i can't find it anywhere for download....it again!

for the client type, all 0.47a seems to be problematic, 0.46c some not and others ok!
i can't really see " a rule" related to nickname... so many!!!!

Xman 4. February 2006 12:13

you can download the 4.8.1 version at www.xtreme-mod.net at the download-section.
It would be the best you try out the last version to verify that this behaviour is releated to xtreme 4.8.2. (simply replace the emule.exe)

stay tuned....

I've just downloaded 4.8.2, and I now have this really weird prob..
My NAV2005 asks for my "Permit" ALL THE TIME!
I've clicked the damn OK button at least a 100 times, even on the NAV's "Internet Worm Protection" on the programs list, eMule Xtreme appears, yet it won't stop asking for my damn permission.
Anyone has an idea?

guess what?
reverting to 4.8.1 fix all my DL issue!
i can't figure why....but it works!

Possible bug in Credit system

Hi guys!

First of all, excuse me for using English, but my German is less than basic :(

I've been using Xtreme mod for around 1 month and I think it's quite good. There are a few features I like over other mods. Good job!

However, I've detected something in the credit system that I think it could be improved. As you explain in your website, there's a bonus system exclusive of Xtreme; this bonus can take a negative value under the conditions you specify:

"a client can get a negative bonus of 0,1(0,2) if you gave him more than 1(2) chunk(s) (9,28MB) this session and also at complete comparsion of download/upload without geting something back"

The fact is that I've found quite a few clients with statistics like this:

Downloaded this session (from me): 250Kb
Total downloaded (from me): 34.5Mb
Total uploaded (to me): 1.2Mb

I was in his queue asking for one of his files and I was advancing quite slowly. I don't know you, but I would call him a leecher. However, when I checked his bonus it was +0.0!!!! and the b...d was downloading!!!

I checked your source file ClientCredits.cpp and found this:

float CClientCredits::GetScoreRatio(const CUpDownClient* client)
{
(.......)

// Cache value
const uint64 downloadTotal = GetDownloadedTotal();

// Check if this client has any credit (sent >1MB)
const float difference2=(float)client->GetTransferredUp() - client->GetTransferredDown();
if(downloadTotal < 1000000) <--------------------------------------------------- Why????
{
if ( difference2 > (2*PENALTY_UPSIZE))
m_bonusfaktor=(-0.2f);
else if (difference2 > PENALTY_UPSIZE)
m_bonusfaktor=(-0.1f);
else
m_bonusfaktor=0;

return (1.0f + m_bonusfaktor);
}

(....)

difference=abs(difference);
if (difference> (2*PENALTY_UPSIZE) && difference2 > (2*PENALTY_UPSIZE)) <----------- Why AND and not OR
m_bonusfaktor=(-0.2f);
else if (difference>PENALTY_UPSIZE && difference2 > PENALTY_UPSIZE) <----------- Why AND and not OR

(...)

Well, I know very little of eMule features and even less of your code, but I think that the lines I've remaked could have something to do with the problem I described before. Is there any special reason for them to be like that? Could they be changed to prevent that problem?

I would welcome very gratefully your reply on this subject.

Thanks for your mod!!!
