When I thougt about it a feature [when file downloaded and (ulratio >20:1 and complete sources >9) put file on hold until complete source is <4] would be nice maybe with a twist like if ULspeed < ½ total ULspeed then remove hold :-D

Just thinking loud.

Regards!

1. you can't trust the info about complete sources... it can be wrong

2. goal of emule is to share your files, not to hide them. What you can do is setting this files to a very low priority.

Isengrim 5. April 2006 00:47

seppl12, well if I only knew his ip, ofcourse I dont let anyone see my files list but still continues to ask for the list, and has been doing it for quite a few weeks now. Therefore i want to ban him permanent as I see him as harassing me, so the question is rather how do I get his ip?

Xman ofcourse the goal is to share and u all know that I do my fair bit of sharing, but since some files has enourmous amount of clients wanting them they block more rare files so I remove them instead, 20:1 or more should noone complain about in ratio, but with my idea thoose files would be shared by me and not removed as they get now. But it was just thinking not serious as a feature request.

It's very long. As i had such a client ( it was a mldonkey robot) it last about a few days only. If this client is in your list of known client you can see his ip. Don't know, maybe there is an entry at the verbose log.

Have you ever tried the multiqueue feature? With that the rare files get a disproportonately high upload in comparison with your huge asked files. (But as aalerich said anywhere, the faster you spread rare files the faster it will remove from the share so that the bootom line is you get less full sources ... don't know if he has right).

Isengrim 5. April 2006 11:34

Thanks for your reply, ill have to enable known client list then for a while.

Yes I tried the multiple queue function but since my dedicated eMule computer isnt the latest stuff it didnt handle that stress well enough, maybe I can use that function when I replace the machine in the future, hopefully this year, all extras is disabled on this machine to keep the upload speed at a maximum :-D Anyway rare files I keep as long as I can in my share so most stuff has been there for years as well as my own releases. There isnt that many swedes on the ed2k-net so swedish stuff must be kept so any new one will find something an thus staying with us...

You mean to enable the verbose log because the list of known client you can always see at the transfer window - the lower window can be changed to show uploadslots, waiting queue, known client or daownloadslots.

Sry but the multiqueue option needn't more resources (not really measurably). The only differnce is to rate the clients for each file.

Xman 5. April 2006 15:23

@seppl
but you can disable the known-client-list ;-)
nevertheless, this list doesn't need much ressources.

:bang since years i see this options but never touch it

Isengrim 5. April 2006 19:16

Well, havnt seen him in my known client list yet but he has asked for my files 4 times since midnight... disturbing, thanks for all help anyway boys.

Xman 5. April 2006 19:19

isn't his IP displayed at the message "client blabla has requested your sharedfilelist" ?

Isengrim 5. April 2006 19:42

Nope, just like this
"2006-04-05 19:10:03: User 0 (141297nnnn) requested your shared files list -> denied" nnnn four more digits.

Xman 5. April 2006 21:44

then I have to add the IP at next version ;-)

"udp risk"

Hallo! Hello!

I'm all new to Xtreme mod. I've got the 5.0.1 under 98SE.
It seems to work a little better at reception than the standard 047a.

My "problem": when you get the hint of a source, it displays in it "possible UDP risk" (with an error, since it reads "reask" instead of "risk")

What is this risk, and how can I overcome it ?

A thousand thanks in advance!
Cheers!
Hilarion

Xman 7. April 2006 11:57

you mean the tooltip of a source, saying "UDP reask possible" ?
This means: if the clients is reponding to UDP-requests this vlua is true. If the client doesn't respond it will display false and we don't try to communicate via UDP wih this client.

And there is no risk ;-)

hilarion 7. April 2006 13:17

gut! Danke sehr!

Hello everybody !

The serverlist in adresses.dat (http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz) doesn't existe anymore. :-?

This one works great : http://www.jd2k.com/server.met
You can see the list here : http://www.jd2k.com/liste.php

[sorry for my english, I'm french]

Jok3r 9. April 2006 14:41

Hello
Are you sure that that is a clean serverlist, without fakeservers???

pihug12 9. April 2006 14:53

I'm not really sure, but I use it .
You can see the list here.

I don't see fakeservers. :-)

pihug12 :dance

Jok3r 9. April 2006 15:04

I get my serverlist here: h**p://www.server-met.de/ , its fakeserver free!

Xman 9. April 2006 17:07

Thanks for the report.. I forgot to update the adresses.dat.
But you are all right about it: it's the question which serverlist is free from fake-servers.

Isengrim 10. April 2006 21:51

Hi!

Found a quirk, when dl big files (ie >2G) the speed it reports for the file isnt allways right, if u adds the speed for all dls and checks the total in the status bar it differs, the statusbar can say 200k but if check the files and adds u only gets like 30k or so... But the statusbar is correct when u see the amounts that get downloaded.

Anyway, the ul when having few clients downloading from me is much better now and the harassing guy is sitting on a Arcor line. I assume that is a german ISP? Dont u have the same ip or do u get a new ip every 24h on that isp?

Xman 10. April 2006 23:05

you are the second one who reports a problem with the different downloadspeeds.
The speed of the statusbar must be right, because it's directly messured at the socket. The speed of a file is the sum of all downlaoding clients which are assigend to this file. Maybe there is a client which is not assigend correctly.
- Can you see which client is uploading to you where you can't see the speed ?
- is there any suspicious verbose-logline when this happens ?
- are this files > 4 GB ?

And yes, arcor, a german ISP, gives a new IP every 24 hours.

Isengrim 10. April 2006 23:15

1. Yes, but the speed showing isnt near the real speed at all.
2. Damn have to activate verbose again.
3. Yes. Have to change that, have seen it on a file that is 3.4G

About Arcor, stupid, here in sweden most isp let u have your ip as long as u are online so infact u have static ip, a few have true static ip.

Seems that client i have seen it from is using StulleMule 3.4 client otherwise i cant see anything strange i the verbose log. May have something to do with finishing parts in the file. Thats the only thing that comes up that i can relate to that client.

Xman 10. April 2006 23:50

Zitat:

1. Yes, but the speed showing isnt near the real speed at all.
you mean that you see a StulleMule is uplaoding to you with slow speed, but this speed is wrong and only shown right at the statusbar ?

Please turn on verboselog and also turn on the option to see upload/download-events. I want to see what is printed when this StulleMule-Download starts and ends.

Isengrim 10. April 2006 23:57

Exactly, i can see that he is ul but at slow speed, but the right speed is shown in statusbar.

Oki, ill try to fix that...

Regards!

Seems like he is just ul and ul and never disconecting, i can see that the parts gets completed but not him at all in the log.

If I look at his details ill get UL (this session) 1.97GB :-D but a average UL speed of 2.4kB/s!

Xman 11. April 2006 08:19

wow, what a huge amount of a single client

1.
can you check out if it is a peercache-download ? look at your statistics -> download -> ports

2.
you can get the logline when you manually stop the clients download.

3. can you pm me the link to the file ? Then I'll test it for my own.

Toddblah 12. April 2006 06:41

Hi, firstly thank you guys to think about other users and open this thread. I've using this mod since when I have been here and I very enjoyed. I wonder that, is this mod have some kind of crash with Netlimiter 1.30? 'cause when I try to use this mod with Netlimiter 1.30, my computer going slown down and I'm looking to memory use in %99 :) but, in Netlimiter 2.0 or in the other versions there is no such a problem with this mod. have you any idea? thank you..

Xman 13. April 2006 18:00

@Toddblah
I never tested netlimiter.

@Isengrim
I tested the file and my speed was shown correctly. I also checked out the code and it should be impossible to get different speeds. Can you give me some answers to my last questions ?

lynxlea 14. April 2006 01:21

KAD always got less resources than other mod

KAD, when i used neo mod, i could got about
Users: 2,494,220
Files: 960,219,760

but when shift to xtreme mod, kad show only 1/3 of overall resouces of neo mod
may it because neo mod has a AUX port especially for KAD?

(my connection is not firewalled in both cases.)

but xtreme are more stable

Xman 14. April 2006 10:30

I didn't touch the kad code, because mods aren't allowed to change anything with this code.
The values of users and files can differ from time to time and you can't trust them because it's only an estimation.

Isengrim 15. April 2006 22:43

Xman? What was the question you were thinking about?

Xman 15. April 2006 23:21

I mean this:
http://www.emule-web.de/board/105526-post106.html

I need a verboselogline when the downloadsessions starts and when it ends. And I need some Info if you have peercache-downloads.

Isengrim 16. April 2006 01:12

Peercache 0.0%

Gimlei 22. April 2006 12:50

Hello there!

First of all, thanks very much for the great mod - been using it for quite some time, and nothing comes even close to it in terms of a balance between reliability, resource economy and speed.

Just wanted to make a small feature request - downloading from P2P involves some risk, and a feature seen in some other mods would be very nice to have - namely, running an antivirus check upon completing a download.

Most anti-virus scanners now have a command-line regime, so implementation would be extremely easy - just running a user-selected program with user-defined keys and the downloaded file name as a parameter.

Thanks in advance, and keep up with Great work!

PS: Oh, and a small thing, which *might* be offtopic here, but I don't really know where to go with it: where can I find the description of the main conceptual differences between Xtreme and ScarAngel? That'd be very interesting to know. Thanks again!

Xtreme v5.1 Slow startup and random closing

I have just discovered Emule-Xtreme and am having some problems when I start it.
Have WinXP SP2 on AMD 1800+ with 768mb of ram.
It appears to be reading some sort of file at startup of Xtreme which is taking 10minutes plus to read before it tries to connect. Once connected I'm amazed how little resources it uses compared with the overheads of the normal Emule 0.47a.
Xtreme closes randomly for some unknown reason could be after 10mins or longer. There is no fault or conflict reported it simply disappears and I have to go through the slow startup again each time.
What settings should I alter to speed up the loading of Xtreme and also stop it closing when it feels like it.

mancsaint

Thx in anticipation

PS.This looks like an excellent version of Emule, if I can get it to run properly.

Xman 25. April 2006 11:00

does emule hash files at startup ? (you can see it at the log). This must be done after a crash.
the synchronization of AICH-hashes can also take a lot of time. Go to preferences->files and disable "remember unused AICH hashes".

You are the first person which have the problem that emule disappear. I don't have an idea why this happens.

mancsaint 25. April 2006 11:18

Slow startup and random closing

Thx Xman for you prompt reply.
I already had AICH hashing turned off as unfortunately was the log. I will turn on the logging and retry things.
I suppose Xtreme was treating the self closures as a crash and consequently rehashing at startup.
I am about to change systems in the very near future so will persist.
This may solve my problems, if not, you'll hear from me again

Many thx again

mancsaint

SVK 10. May 2006 22:08

Hello!
I have one qvestion:
Will UPnP be added to future versions?

Xman 10. May 2006 22:59

The problem is, I have no experience with UPnP and I don't have routers for testing.. all what I can do is copying from someone other... maybe I'll do it in the future.

SVK 11. May 2006 07:44

Why maybe?Good idea copying from someone other! When in the future?
Thank you Xman !
P.S I know you can do this!
